CJ Rhodes

CJ Rhodes is the twenty-third and youngest pastor of the historic Mt Helm Baptist Church in Downtown Jackson, MS, the oldest black church in the state’s capital. Compared by some to the young Martin Luther King, Jr, Pastor Rhodes is one of this generation’s emerging leaders.

    Pastor Rhodes,
I wanted to thank you for the very fine sermon that you gave at my cousin’s Lillie Gilliam’s funeral this past summer. I grew up in Jackson but had not been back since the death of my mother 12 years ago. So even though the circumstances which brought me back were not pleasant. It was good to be back home on so many levels. It was a joy to see a young dynamic pastor such as yourself who has a passion for justice. We need prophetic and courageous leadership in these times. I will be praying for you and the people of Mt. Helm as you seek to be a shining light in the community around your church as well as the larger community.
In the hope and power of the living Christ,
    The Reverend Kenneth W. Wheeler
    Milwaukee, WI.
